How is sound related to health and wellbeing?

Believe it or not, humans have used sound as a tool for healing for more than 40,000 years. In either a group immersion or an individual sound session, a trained therapist will use singing bowls, tuning forks, bells, and other healing instruments to create a matrix of tones and vibrations that promote deep relaxation, clearing and rejuvenation. Sound therapy may reduce physical, mental, and emotional stress resulting in an improved overall sense of wellbeing and tranquility. This reduction in stress may also promote healing and vitality and boost the immune system. Following a sound session, many people report experiencing a deep state of physical relaxation resembling that of a deep tissue massage.

Sound Therapy for the Highly Sensitive Person

A Wind Willow Sound Health class series facilitated by Julie Chase, Owner, Wind Willow Sound Health

2024 Session Dates to Be Announced Soon! This series of five classes is geared toward highly sensitive people (18 yrs and older) who want to expand their general knowledge of sound therapy as a tool to better navigate their daily lives.

Highly Sensitive Person, or HSP, is a term coined by psychologist Elaine Aron. According to Aron’s theory, HSPs are a subset of the population who are high in a personality trait known as sensory-processing sensitivity, or SPS. Those with high levels of SPS display increased emotional sensitivity, stronger reactivity to both external and internal stimuli—pain, hunger, light, and noise—and a complex inner life.

This in-person, 90 minute, 5-class series explores an introduction to HSP traits, covering general information about stress and the highly sensitive individual, with a focus on how sound can bring about the relaxation response either in a group, or individual setting. Class format is lecture/discussion/sound immersion. Each class builds on the previous, concluding with an extended sound immersion in Class 5.  Class dates to be announced. Check back here or on the Wind Willow Sound Health website for updates.

Tuition:  $240 for the series.  Payment is due at the first class unless prior arrangements have been made.  Scholarships may be available upon written request.

Visit the Wind Willow Sound Health website for information and registration.
